What is a self-custody wallet?+

A self-custody wallet lets you control access to your crypto and web3 identity. You’re responsible for keeping your recovery phrase safe.

Is Coinbase Wallet the same as Coinbase.com?+

They’re different products. Coinbase Wallet is self-custody: you control your wallet keys. Your Coinbase.com account is a custodial account managed by Coinbase.

What should I do if a site asks for my recovery phrase?+

Stop immediately. Never enter your recovery phrase into a website, share it with support, or send it to anyone. Only use it within your trusted wallet app when restoring access.
